to make a basic yule log, you will need the following:

1. a log about 14 - 18" long.
2. pine cones.
3. dried berries, such as cranberries.
4. cuttings of mistletoe, holly, pine needles, and ivy.
5. feathers and cinnamon sticks.
6. some festive ribbon - use paper or cloth ribbon, not the synthetic or wire-lined type.
7. a hot glue gun.
